How To Install Roof Brackets
- Lean a ladder against the side of the building and climb up to the edge of the roof. Note of Caution!
- Once the rafters are located then you can attach two roof jacks to the roof.
- Drive a 16 penny nail through one of the slots at the top of the jack.
- Put the planks on top of the roof jacks.
In this way, how do you install a roof bracket?
Position the brackets directly over a rafter or truss (Fig. A). Install each bracket by lifting a shingle tab and sliding the bracket under it. Then pound 20d common nails into each slot, making sure they hit the rafter or truss.
Just so, how does a roof jack work?
Roof jacks provide a stable surface to work, increasing safety and making it easier to apply roofing. Ideally, locate a rafter below the sheathing. (You can usually feel sheathing nails, which are driven into rafters through the underlayment.) Attach a jack by driving two 16d nails (never roofing nails) into a rafter.
The answer is based on the angle of your roof. If your roof has 45 to 50 degree angle then you can use two to three roofing jacks. However, if you have a roof which has a steeper angle then you will need a lot more jacks in order to improve your balance.
