Herein, how many snails are eaten in France in a year?
In France, people eat approximately 500,000,000 snails per year. Ten billion baguettes are produced each year in France. By law, a traditional baguette can only have three ingredients – flour, yeast and salt – and must weigh 250 grams, just short of 9 ounces.
Thereof, how are snails eaten in France?
In France, snails are common and referred with the French word “Escargot.” When cooked, snails are prepared with garlic and parsley butter, added for seasoning, and served in their shell. They are very expensive because they are considered a delicacy.
Peconic's snails are not cheap. For consumers who order by mail, they're $65 per pound shelled, and in the shell $15 per dozen, or $36 for four dozen. Shelf life, much as with seafood, is tricky: seven days at most in the refrigerator.
