BOISE, Idaho — Flooding in Oregon has caused the closure of Interstate 84 Friday between Hermiston and Pendleton. All lanes of the interstate are closed to traffic between mileposts 182 and 188, according to the Oregon Department of Transportation.

PENDLETON, OR - Interstate 84 is now open in eastern Oregon with a detour around a major flooding area between MP 182 and 188. The section of freeway between MP 182 and 188 is expected to remain closed up to a week, as the area is flooded due to breached irrigation ditches adjacent to the freeway.

UPDATE: I-84 is now open EASTBOUND and WESTBOUND in eastern Oregon. Expect a lane restriction near MP 233. Use caution and travel safe! Traffic alert: I-84 remains closed EB and WB due to a crash involving hazardous materials in the WB lanes at MP 233 near #Meacham.
UPDATE (4:11 p.m.) — I-84 through eastern Oregon is now back open. Just in: I-84 is closed both EASTBOUND and WESTBOUND in eastern Oregon between Exit 216 (six miles east of Pendleton) and Exit 265 in La Grande do to extremely limited visibility and spun out vehicles.
