Is ip44 the same as ipx4?

28
IP codes always have at two numbers (they can haveletter suffixes too). e.g. IP44, IP66. e.g. IPX4,IP4X. The second number means protection against water (drippingvertical, dripping slanted, spraying, splashing, jetting, immersion).

Considering this, what does ip44 rated mean?

IP44 specifically indicates protection from theintrusion of water. Lights which are IP44 rated are designedfor use in bathrooms and other environments where water spray is arisk. Not all bathroom lights are at risk of water intrusion andtherefore may not need to be IP44 rated.

Also, is ip44 OK for outdoor use? IP44 is generally OK for common gardenuse and standard weather. We do offer lights with IP66ratings such as our Fumagalli Garden Lights range. These arespecifically made to be very hard wearing against weather and arealso rust and corrosion free.

Hereof, what is the difference between ip44 and ip66?
