Accordingly, can I develop iOS app on iPad?
There is an iPad/iPhone app, calledPythonista, that allows you to write and run python scripts on aniPad and iPhones. If you want to make iOS app usingXcode then probably not. You can use iPad forlearning Swift programming language using Apple's SwiftPlaygrounds app though.
Then, what is Xcode used for?
Xcode. Xcode is an integrated developmentenvironment (IDE) for macOS containing a suite of softwaredevelopment tools developed by Apple for developing software formacOS, iOS, iPadOS, watchOS, and tvOS.
So yes, you can write Swift on aniPad, but, it's bare-bones Swift, meaning youcan't write apps. You can just write pureSwift. Swift Playground's release date is currentlyunknown, but it's speculated it will come alongside iOS 10,which will be released mid this month(September).
