A person who holds a flight instructor certificate (called a "certificated flight instructor" or CFI) is authorized to give training and endorsements required for and relating to: an instrument rating, only if the CFI has an instrument instructor rating (CFII); This cannot be given by a "safety pilot".
Beside this, what does CFI stand for in aviation?
Flight Instructor
In this regard, what does it take to become a CFI?
Becoming a CFI Be at least 18 years of age. Hold a Commercial Pilot Certificate or ATP Certificate. Must hold a valid FAA 3rd Class Medical Certificate. Pass the FAA Practical Flight Test and Oral Examination.
You should be able to get a CFI (and a CFII) for about $4-6K. If you are selective about your students nad the type of training you give, you should find it very enjoyable. Since you're not on a crusade to build hours, you can afford to be selective.
