science space and astronomyWhen did Hans Lippershey make the telescope?
In this way, why did Hans Lippershey invent the telescope?
In 1608, Lippershey laid claim to a device that could magnify objects three times. His telescope had a concave eyepiece aligned with a convex objective lens. Lippershey, therefore, gets the credit for the telescope, because of the patent application, while Jansen is credited with inventing the compound microscope.
Secondly, what is Hans Lippershey famous for?
Hans Lipperhey (1570 – buried 29 September 1619), also known as Johann Lippershey or Lippershey, was a German-Dutch spectacle-maker. He is commonly associated with the invention of the telescope, because he was the first one who tried to obtain a patent for it.
Hans Lipperhey was born in Wesel (western Germany) and settled in Middelburg, the capital of Zeeland, the southwesternmost province of the Netherlands, where he married in 1594 and became a citizen in 1602.
