Floating shelves can only maintain high weight capacities if they are mounted into something solid like wall studs or masonry block. They hold the most weight when they are secured into something solid all the way across the length of each shelf.
Just so, what weight can shelves hold?
150 lbs
Also question is, how much weight can floating shelves support?
A typical floating shelf can support weights of about 20 to 30 kilograms depending on the material they are made of and the supporting brackets that are used. 12mm diameter brackets can support shelves of up to 22mm thick loaded with 20kg.
It's mostly dependent on how the shelf is anchored to the wall. If you're using plastic drywall plugs and a few screws, then I wouldn't put much more than 50 lbs. on a single shelf.
