careers resume writing and adviceWhy are you interested in the RA position?
In this way, why do you want to be an RA answer?
It is a great experience to help other students learn about college and help them with the college experience. I want to be able to help people feel safe and have fun on campus. I want to be an RA because I love being able to have different leadership opportunities. Leader, work well with others, helpful and more.
- Receive discounted or free room and board (and possible free or deeply discounted meal plans).
- Potentially receive pay or a semester's stipend.
- Serve as a role model to residents and peer staff members.
- Gain valuable skills as a peer mentor and earn work experience for your resumé.
Accordingly, why are you applying for the RA position?
Being an RA means being personally responsible for the wellbeing of your community as well as the safety of your residence hall while on duty. Having such responsibility forces one to step up in many situations and handle the responsibility associated with the position.
It looks good on a resume. If you're looking for ways to demonstrate your leadership skills, being an RA looks great on a resume. And you can always use some of your experiences to demonstrate your "practical experience" in a job interview.
