If you have to pour gas into the carb, there is a problem with fuel delivery. If there are any obstructions in or to the carb, you will have fuel starvation. Check all fuel lines, fuel filters, and the "old gas" itself as a problem. If the fuel smells even close to varnish, it could be a problem.
