Also, will a bank replace damaged money?
Banks can exchange some mangled money for customers. Typically, badly soiled, dirty, defaced, disintegrated and torn bills can be exchanged through your local bank if more than half of the original note remains. These notes would be exchanged through your bank and processed by the Federal Reserve Bank.
Beside this, what happens if you rip money UK?
As a general rule, we will only reimburse you with the face value of a damaged banknote if you still have at least half of the banknote. If your banknotes have been contaminated by a biohazard or any other noxious substance or hazardous chemical, please telephone us on 0113 241 0075 for advice before posting.
The mutilated or defective notes of these two denominations can now be exchanged by the public at RBI offices and designated bank branches across the country.
